My First Week of Yogalates
On October 1st, I started the 30 day Yogalates Challenge from Yoga with Kassandra, and I completed the 7th day this morning. This was my first time attempting, and committing to, a daily morning practice. I thought it would be easy to do a short session each day, but I quickly realized that implementing this new step into my routine was a little harder than I thought. Even though each video is only about 10–15 minutes, showing up and making the time for each session has been the toughest part.
I’ll be honest right away, I missed day 4. I had a lot going on that day, and the morning just slipped away from me. But instead of skipping the whole thing, I decided to do both Day 4 and Day 5 the next morning. That felt like a small win for me. I didn’t want to immediately fail this challenge, and getting back on track so quickly reminded me that missing a day doesn’t mean I ruined the entire journey.
This morning, day 7, I found myself looking forward to the session. It’s becoming something I want to do, not just something I feel like I need to be doing for this project. I’m also starting to notice how impactful it is to start my day with something intentional and calming. The sessions are short, beginner-friendly, and centered around breath, gentle movement, and being present. At the end of each practice, Kassandra reads out an affirmation card and we are encouraged to carry the short phrase with us throughout our day. This ties into the meditation side of my journey. I’ve also noticed a shift in my patience. I’m someone who tends to rush, so these morning practices are helping me slow down, breathe, and become more present.
I am genuinely enjoying these morning yogalates sessions, and I am excited to see my progress throughout the challenge. I am also thinking about adding some gentle evening yoga when I have time. For now, though, my focus is to continue my daily morning practice, and listen to what my body needs.
