My First Yoga & Meditation Sessions
This week, I officially began my yoga and meditation journey. Both sessions were online and very beginner friendly. I wanted to share how it went, how I felt, and what I might try next.
Starting the Day with a 5-Minute Meditation:
For my first meditation, I kept it pretty simple. I found a 5-Minute Morning Meditation for Positive Mindset & Good Mood video on YouTube by SarahBethYoga. I chose this video for a couple reasons. Firstly, it was one of the first results that popped up after my search, and I really wanted to do this meditation immediately upon waking up. I was also drawn to it because I thought it would help set a positive tone for my day.
The meditation was short and peaceful, and I feel it made a noticeable difference in how I approached the rest of my morning. Even if it was just a quick check off my to-do list, it is something I want to keep doing.
Evening Yoga:
Later that day, I did my first yoga session. It was a 10-minute Gentle & Simple Yoga Stretch video from Yoga with Kassandra. I really liked the instructor’s calm energy and how clearly she explained each pose. She seemed confident and knowledgeable, and I appreciated that she didn’t rush through anything. Her voice was soft and encouraging, and I found it easy to follow along without getting lost. Thinking ahead, I think I’d prefer doing yoga in the morning. I think it would be helpful to take some time to stretch and breathe in the morning, to help ease into the day.
After the video, I was looking around Kassandra’s YouTube channel a little more and came across a 30 day Yogalates Challenge that she recently posted. It’s a mix of yoga and Pilates, and it’s supposed to be done everyday, in the morning. It sounds like something I would really enjoy, especially because Kassandra is so encouraging.
Final Thoughts:
These first two sessions were short and simple, but they helped me take my first step on this journey. What I appreciated most was how much I wanted to continue with these practices. I also didn’t need a lot of time, space, or equipment, which helped encourage me to continue
